On the path to quit smoking cigarette, many smokers will fail many numerous times, and unfortunately, the vast majority of these people will stay hooked for one big reason. That one big reason is because of the fact they feel hopeless, like nothing will or can enable them to stop for good. How completely wrong that is! Success does not mean never falling down (flat on one's face!); it means getting yourself up every time until you are able to keep from failing. Here are 3 simple suggestions that will help you stop smoking cigarette.
1. Some Funky Kind of Magic
A familiar way to stop smoking cigarette is with hypnosis. You have probably heard it before and may have considered the idea. When it comes down to it, hypnosis to stop smoking has had spotty results for those who have attempted it. It hasn't been 100% useful for everyone, but it has not been a complete flop for everyone either. Basically, hypnosis requires re-programming the human brain: the test patient begins to think negative thoughts about smoking, and positive thoughts about being smoke-free. The hypnotist will remove the desire to smoke. However, there are a few cons to this technique. First, hypnosis may not be good with a smoker's religion. In addition, a hypnosis class or session is quite expensive, with one-on-one classes being the most expensive. Finally, as stated before, sometimes this technique just doesn't work, and the smoker is back where they began.
2. Get a Sub
A second method that has helped tens of thousands to stop smoking cigarette is the utilization or integration of a substitute for smoking cigarettes. Many have had great success by using something as ordinary as a drinking straw to when they have a craving; others have used candy or lollipops in general. A recent invention is the electric cigarette, which has been seen by hundreds as helping them finally stop. Most of these substitutionary ideas are not expensive, and the only con is that the user may look odd in a public setting by sucking on a lollipop or straw.
3. There Must Be a Cause
One of the important factors to do when trying to stop smoking cigarette is to understand your "triggers," or what makes you to want to smoke. It's not normal to want to do something that gives you harm and shortens your life; therefore, there is some reason or underlying cause making you want or need to smoke. Is it a certain timeframe of day, such as on your lunch break at work? Or is it certain people you hang out with that also smoke, so you have to do so? It could be anxiety or worry in general that makes you crave. Fortunately, all of these weaknesses can be easily overcome. Learn to do something else at the same time when you would usually have a cigarette; stop associating with the humans who cause you to smoke, or at the very least, ask them to stop until you are gone to smoke; find something healthy that will calm your nerves when you feel anxious.
