The average smoker who attempts to kick the habit, tries an average of 6.1 times before he or she is successful, according to the Canadian Tobacco Use Monitoring Survey.
And all those want-to-be-nonsmokers represent a pretty big market - at least 70 percent of today's 45.3 million smokers want to quit, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and of those, 63.1 percent have tried at least once in the past year.
