Here's a new idea in health care: a little mobile device that lets you store health information and upload it online. The devices are aimed at people who are on the go and need to an easy way to manage their health.
The gadgets can be used to record symptoms, storage of important health care information and to remind a user to take a pill, says the Sunday New York Times article.
If you are asking our opinion as to whether these devices will stick around long, we doubt it. With the price of the gizmos being about $200, it seems a little expensive for what it is.
There does exist a software program that is compatible with mobile devices like the iPhone. So this might be a possibility. We are thinking that the trend will be moving toward electronic medical information and health records anyways. So, there might be a demand for the devices after all.
If the devices were capable of managing health plans, it would seem more popular. It would be nice if they could remind you of monthly payments, or allow you to check to see if your plan covers a specific prescription or procedure, or even if you are looking for a provider in your network. This could actually work...
